Bioko - Wildlife

Bioko is one of the most beautiful islands in the world and one of the favorite destinations for nature lovers from all over the world. It is a magnificent eco-system which includes hundreds of species of endangered animals. It is a place of a greatest concentration of endangered primates.
Bioko is home to about 200 species of birds that fly between three volcanic peaks on the island. One of these peaks is high more then 3.000 meters, which makes it one of the best attractions on the island.
There are also about sixty unique species of plants at this islands. Some of them can’t be find anywhere else in the world.
Bioko’s nature shows its gorgeous beauty during the dry season – between November and February, when butterflies gather in rainforests and endangered marine turtles nest on the black sand beaches of Bioko. In this period birds are very active and make Bioko birdwatchers paradise.
Bioko is home to Wildlife Research Center, which is opened for visitors and where you can see some of the most interesting animal and plant species of this island.
