Burj Khalifa
Burj Khalifa (Khalifa Tower) is the tallest buiding in the world and the tallest man-made structure ever built. This 828m (2,717ft) tall building is located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Excavation work began in January 2004 and the building officially opened on 4th January 2010. This project was designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. Chief architect on this project was Adrian Smith and chief structural engineer was Bill Baker. Initially, this engineering masterpiece had been named Burj Dubai and it was renamed to Burj Khalifa in honor to Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the ruling sheik of Abu Dhabi, and UAE President, who support Dubai during the financial crisis with over US $25 bilion. This beautiful and supertall skyscraper holds the record for number of floors. The first of four hotels by Armani, occupies 15 of 160 floors. The 124th floor is reserved for the highest outdoor observation deck in the world, at 452 m (1,483 ft). Burj Khalifa is surrounded by an 11 ha park, Dubai Mall and spectacular Dubai Fountain. This complex is known as Downtown Dubai.
