Prices in Marrakech

As in the rest of Africa, main recommendation for shopping is to dicker with sellers. First prices that seller will offer you are five times higher then those you can get after dickering. Even prices of the rooms in some hostels can be haggled.
Shoes – for quality shoes you shouldn’t pay more than Dh 90
Lamps – for medium size lamp maximum price is about Dh 60
Carpets – price for white wool carpet of medium size is about Dh 1.000
Shisha – small size shisha can be bought for Dh 150
Tobacco for shisha – depending of flavour, but not more than Dh 20
Bananas – about Dh 8
Bread – round pieces cost Dh 2
You can’t bid in supermarkets, but open air markets and local stores are places where you can dicker. It is a part of their culture and tradition.
