Moscow - Public Transport

Moscow is a large city and covers an area of 880 square kilometers. Most of the tourist attractions are within downtown, but some interesting attractions are a little further off so you will need some kind of public transport.
Moscow public transport is pretty efficient and it includes metro, buses, trans, trolleybuses, minibuses and taxis. Moscow’s metro is unique and it is one of the Moscow’s attractions. It is considered as one of the finest in the world. Public buses are usually used by Moscowers, less by tourists. Trolleybuses are the most ecologically friendly transport option. Marshrutka is popular minibus, unique transport option in Russia. By using marshrutka, you are able to request your stop promptly, like you are in taxi. Drive by marshrutka in the downtown of Moscow will cost you as low as $1. Taxis are not cheap and it is recommended to use it if you’re in a hurry or getting late somewhere.
There are also many hop on hop off buses in Moscow. Most of them operate within downtown, but you can arrange some that drive to the tourist attractions dozen of kilometers from downtown.
