Santorini - Beaches

Beaches of Santorini are different then other beaches in Greece. Black and red volcanic pebbles on Santorini’s beaches make special charm and picturesque ambience.
The most popular beach at Santorini is Red beach that is located 12 kilometers from Fira. It has red and black volcanic pebbles and hotter water than in other beaches of Santorini.
Other notable beaches at Santorini are: Perissa, Perivolos, Kamari, Cape Columbo, Agios Georgios, Monolithos, Vlychada and Vourvoulos. These beaches mainly have black sand and crystal clear waters. Monolithos is the most family oriented beach, Cape Columbo is very isolated, but quite and peaceful beach, Perivolos is one of the most crowded, and Vourvoulos is not recommended for novice level swimmers, because of the strong winds that blow almost every day.
All tourist oriented beaches are located within few kilometers from Fira and there are buses that depture tourists from nearby hotels to the beaches. Most of these beaches has caffes, restaurants and bars where you can eat or have a drink.
